Troubleshooting - Upgrading from the limited preview
This information is only relevant to customers that were part of our limited preview release.
As of March 30th 2016 we have changed the names we use for resources (blob containers and tables) in storage accounts. We have also changed the JSON
schema for agent settings and enabled a new 'cloud settings' feature where settings can be loaded from the storage account and edited through the Service Profiler web
site. For the following discussion, we will refer to data cubes created prior to March 30th 2016 as "V1" and new data cubes as "V2".
If you have a V1 data cube, it will continue to work with either the V1 or V2 agent (DiagnosticsAgent.exe). Note, however:
- Only a V2 agent can access the new cloud settings feature.
- The cloud settings feature is disabled for V1 data cubes (created prior to March 30th 2016). V1 data cubes can be upgraded to V2,
without loss of data, but this is a manual process. To upgrade and migrate data, please send mail to email@example.com.
- The V2 agent decides which resource names to use based on the JSON schema of the settings file. Therefore, you should not attempt to use a V2 settings
file with a V1 data cube. Accordingly, all machines collecting data for a data cube must use the same schema.
